Meet Julie!

Hi! I'm Julie, a born and raised New Yorker. Some unexpected twists and turns have occurred in my life and through these difficult experiences, I've learned a lot.

 

I've realized that struggles can be your biggest opportunities for growth. I understand how challenging it is to ask for help and I know the pains involved with trying to change.

 

I also know that we humans are incredibly resilient

 

One of my first big struggles began as a teen, when I developed social anxiety. Anxiety and low confidence were barriers that I needed to overcome at different points during my life. I've grown to view these challenges as teachers in disguise- without them I don't know if I'd be who I am today.

 

From a young age, I've been a sensitive soul, drawn to adventure and people of all walks of life. With a growing desire to help others and to try to make sense of the multi-layered human experience, my path to become a therapist felt natural and intuitive

 

Having lived and trained in some of the most diverse cities (including Boston, San Francisco and Manhattan) I respect the complexity of culture and I'm committed to trying to understand each person's unique cultural lens. 

 

I'm often asked, "What do you do in therapy?" In a nutshell, I help you to understand yourself in a deeper + realer way. Therapy is a sacred time, exclusively set aside for you, to check in with yourself and to gain skills and support.

 

I offer gentle guidance and valuable tools, while empowering you to face fears and dissolve outdated limiting beliefs. And most importantly, I empower you in becoming a more confident version of yourself.

 

My approach to therapy is warm, interactive and integrative. I blend in Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal Process, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion based techniques. I welcome your feedback, and check in regularly, to make sure that we're covering what matters most to you

 

I treat a variety of mental health concerns. Some areas of expertise include (but are not limited to): Anxiety, Depression, Social Anxiety, Relationship Problems, Body-Image Concerns, Disordered Eating, Disabilities, Grief & Loss, Mood Instability, Trauma, Stress-Reduction & Coping with Life Transitions. 

 

I especially enjoy helping you to build self-esteem, gain clarity, and to navigate life transitions. I feel honored to be beside you in times of suffering, and I value each time I witness self-discovery or signs of growth. As an adventure lover, I support you in gradually conquering fears at your own speed.

 

*When I'm not in my office, I enjoy biking, being in nature, meditation, photography and other creative outlets.

 Interested in my clinical training + credentials?

As a clinical psychologist, licensed in Florida and New York, I have years of experience providing individual and group psychotherapy to diverse populations, specializing in working with adults.

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston University, and my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco. I completed my predoctoral internship at San Jose State University’s Counseling Center, and my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente. 

Having worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, and in private practice- my individual and group therapy training is extensive. With a growing interest in and appreciation for group therapy, I've co-facilitated a range of groups such as: CBT for Depression, Social Anxiety Skills, and Mindfulness CBT outpatient groups.

I've also led various outpatient process-oriented support groups including: Women's Anxiety & Depression, Men's Social Skills, PCOS Support Discussion Groups and I'm currently leading Women's Mindfulness Groups (virtually).
