Meet Julie!
Hi! I'm Dr. Julie, a licensed clinical psychologist who's passionate about guiding and supporting individuals towards lasting inner healing. I'm also someone who has faced real anxiety, healed from loss, survived "failures", and restored low confidence myself.
I understand how hard it is to ask for help. And I know the frustrations that come with feeling stuck while you desperately want things to change. But I've learned that struggles are your biggest opportunities for growth. And humans are wildly resilient!
Since I was a kid, I've been an aware sensitive soul, drawn to adventure and people of all walks of life. With a deep desire to help others and to try to make sense of the multi-layered human experience, becoming a therapist felt totally natural and intuitive.
One of my first struggles began as a teen, when I developed a fear of public speaking and social anxiety. Anxiety and other hidden insecurities were barriers (I somehow knew even back then) that I needed to overcome to reach my dreams. I've grown to view these challenges as teachers in disguise- without them I wouldn't be who or where I am today.
Having lived and trained in some of the most diverse cities (including Boston, San Francisco and Manhattan) I respect the complexity of culture and I'm committed to trying to understand each unique person's cultural lens.
I'm often asked, "What goes on in therapy?" In a nutshell, I help you to get to know yourself in a new way. Therapy is a sacred outlet exclusively set aside for you. It's a place to check in with yourself and gain clarity, tools and support.
I offer gentle guidance and simple strategies, while empowering you to face fears and dissolve outdated limiting beliefs. And most importantly, I empower you in becoming a more authentic and confident version of yourself.
My style is compassionate, straightforward and warm. I blend in Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal Process, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion techniques. I welcome your feedback, and check in regularly, to make sure that we're covering what matters most to you.
With over a decade of experience treating Adults with a variety of concerns, my areas of expertise include (but are not limited to): Anxiety, Depression, Social Anxiety, Erythrophobia, Relationship Problems, Body-Image Concerns, Disordered Eating, Disabilities, Grief & Loss, Mood Instability, Trauma, Stress-Reduction & Coping with Life Transitions.
I especially enjoy supporting you in building self-esteem and navigating life transitions. I feel honored to be beside you in times of suffering, and I value each time I witness self-discovery or signs of growth. As an adventure lover, I support you to gradually conquer fears at your own speed.
*When I'm not in my office, I'm into exploring in nature, spending time with my husband and 15 month old daughter, enjoying cozy rituals, and other creative outlets.
